It's purely traditional with all the features a player and collector looks for in a high quality Staunton chess set. The pieces are individually hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. The king is 3.5" tall and has a base diameter of 1.375" - the ideal size for a game at home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability. Our Deluxe Two-Drawer Walnut Chess Case is the ideal choice for combining a chess board with a way of storing chess pieces when you're not playing a game. This exterior of the case is made from solid wood with an elegant molded edge design that incorporates a graceful curve and a three row beaded section at the top. The chess board is made from high quality walnut and maple veneer and has a decorative black inlaid border to delineate the playing area. The drawers completely pull out to make it easy to take pieces out or put them in. A recessed magnet on each of the drawer secures the drawer when closed. The compartments will hold a chess set with up to a 4.125" tall king and with base of 1.625".
