Handcrafted in India by highly skilled turners and carvers, our French Lardy Staunton is a replica of a chess set originally produced by the old Lardy Chess Company in France. This timeless design is one of the sets that conjure the image of what an old Staunton design looks like. Its been one of the most popular sets for decades and a favorite with players at all levels. The golden-brown color of the acacia and light color boxwood are a perfect match with the walnut and sycamore board. This is a regulation size set with a 3.75 king and a 1.6 base. The pieces are nicely weighted for added stability and thick green baize pads provide a soft landing on the chess board. We include 2 extra queens for pawn promotion.
