Peggy's Cove | Jigsaw

This fishing village in Nova Scotia was founded in 1811 by six families of German descent. As seen by the many boats in the painting, fishing has been a mainstay of this small community since it’s inception. Over the last few decades, the charm of this village has spread and tourism has gradually taken over as the leading economic industry. Located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay, the area is know for its rugged and rocky terrain. In Eric’s painting of Peggy’s Cove, brightly painted wooden buildings dot the peninsula where villagers enjoy their spoils of fish and lobster.
Eric Dowdle is famous for his folk art.  Eric makes every effort to let you experience the city as the natives would.  When painting a city, he often leaves the beaten path to explore behind the scenes.  He lifts up the sidewalks to discover the city's folklore, the local cuisine, the city's heritage, immersing himself in the community as much as possible.  This attention to detail is why Eric's paintings let you feel as if you have actually "been there" and "done that" and can't wait to go back.
