This is our New Exclusive Staunton chess set with a unique burnt design carved into the pieces. To create the black, chess pieces are actually burnt followed by the final carving and design work which creates a beautiful contrast in colors between the blackened areas and the natural golden wood colors underneath. Chess pieces are then finished in high gloss lacquer giving the chess pieces an elegant glass-like finish. The pieces are heavily weighted for superb balance and stability on the chess board and have green billiard cloth pads so the slide smoothly from square to square. We include 2 spare queens for pawn promotion and certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is, where it came from, and when it was made.
