This spectacular chess set is named after General George S. Patton of the United States Army that led many successful military campaigns in World War II. Patton possessed a colorful image, had a hard-driving personality and was hugely successful as the commander of his military campaigns.This set features an extraordinary knight with graceful lines and intricate detail carved including eyes, nostrils, mouth, teeth and a flared mane which shows movement. The king is 4.25" tall and features an ornate finial that is unique from any other chess set in our collection. The lathe work is extraordinary with compound collars and eloquent lines precisely turned into the base of each piece.The pieces are heavily weighted with green baize pads for a soft and cushioned feel on the chess board.
