This chess set is nothing short of extraordinaire taking Staunton to a new level with its artistic design. The knight with its down-turned head that curves to one side and mane flailing out behind its neck creates the image of horse racing into battle. Very few carvers in the world can accurately carve and replicate these complex knights. All of the pieces are beautifully shaped with a unique and elegant profile featuring a series of complex curves down the column. The lathe work is simply extraordinary.This is a large set with a king that is 4.25" tall and has a base of 1.875".

Our Black and Ash Burl High Gloss Deluxe Chess Board goes perfect with ebony and boxwood chess pieces. Imported from Spain, this is an inlaid chess board made for us by Rechapados Ferrer. The black and golden color of the natural ash burl are enhanced by the high gloss, glass-like finish creating an elegant backdrop for the ebony and boxwood chess pieces. A pinstripe delimiter around the squares and an extra-wide frame adds an elegant look to the board.The squares are 2.355" with the chess board measuring 23.5" x 23.5.Whether you are a collector or looking for your one special chess set, you will be thoroughly pleased with the Strategos!
